Niulevu Seals Win For Nadi
JK Builders Nadi’s Sairusi Niulevu saved the day when he scored in the last minute to seal their win against Lautoka in the final of the RC Manubhai/ APCO Veteran International tournament at Prince Charles Park in Nadi yesterday.
The former Nasinu and Nadi player was assisted by Salesh Sami Bula who crossed the ball from the right flank to Davendra Raju who passed it to Niulevu.
Former Lautoka goalkeeper Ilaitia Vueti of Nadi saved a penalty in the first half to keep Nadi in the game.
Bolstering the Nadi side were Watisoni Vuli (captain), Mohammed Shamim, Timoci Matanitu, Tawake Dakunibubului and Ilaitia Vueti.
Meanwhile, the Jetsetters will be the only team from Fiji that will participate in the annual Pacific Cup in Auckland, New Zealand in November.
Fiji Football Association president Rajesh Patel congratulated both teams for their performances. Nadi coach Lambert Sarju said: “The boys played according to plan and gave their best.
“We thank our sponsors Jitendra Kumar (JK) for supporting us. It’s the mission of every coach and team to win”
Lautoka captain Lisala Bonatoba said: “We will work to improve our weakness from this year’s tournament. The tournament so far was good for the team in the form of keeping us fit,” he said.
Nadi won $4000 while Lautoka received $1000. (Lautoka);
