I’m hitting ball really good: Lee
Sam Lee shot one under par 71 in the final round of the 2017 Fiji International yesterday.
He finished with a total score of the 288 (78, 66, 73) at the Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course to settle in the 47th spot tied with Australian James Nitties, Matthew Guyatt, Jason Scrivener, Canadian Richard Lee and Kiwi Ben Campbell.
“I hit the ball really solid and just did not make many putts, actually missed some short ones. Other than that I was hitting the ball really good,” he said.
Lee earned AUS$6,555 (FJ$10,483) for his effort in the four-day event.
“It was a bit disappointing the way I started as I shot 78 and had to work hard in the second day to make the cut,” he said.
His best memory for the tournament was scoring 66 on day three.
Lee will be taking part at the Northern Territory Championship in Darwin, Australia, in two weeks. His caddie Roneel Prakash was happy with the outcome of the event.
“Just up and down there were some decent days and some we could have done better,” he said.
“You can’t expect to play well every day. Helping Sam is something I needed to do as a caddie as it plays an important role,” the Lautoka Delana Primary School teacher said. Prakash represented Fiji at the 2007 Pacific Games in Samoa.
