Bala shows way

-

Tukai Lagonilaleba, Suva

I wish to applaud all our media outlets and their anti-litter teams who have been working behind the scene weekly to expose the littering and the illegal garbage dumping throughout our country.

Urban drift and the high investment level in our country should not be used as an excuse. It is all about good values, respect for one's self, discipline, love for one's environment and civic pride in keeping rivers, ocean and land resources clean.

Our Minister for Environment has taken the fight upon himself and he must be commended and congratulated for this positive initiative in his summoning of all municipal heads to find ways and solutions to address and tackle this national nuisance.

As stakeholders all Fijians must be collectively involved irrespective of where we dwell, this is a national disaster.

The Honourable Bala is taking the bull by the horns.

He said that his environment department will identify strategic areas throughout all settlements informal and formal including iTaukei villages all around our country as sites for large garbage bins for a start.

Our Government is leading the way by footing the bills for these large bins with their removal.

Come on Fijians; let's play our individual roles in doing right by our environment and country for the sake of our future generation.Great, gutsy and smart of you Mr Bala in walking the talk. The vision is applauded and we are forever grateful.
