“I have decided to use this platform to raise awarness on environmental issues faced by our people in Ba and provide practical solutions to combat these issues,” Ms Sauliga said.

On the other hand, Fiji Meteorological Services has noted, that parts of the country are becoming drier and cooler than their normal conditions and these basically are the effects of climate change, she added.
“As a young woman, I believe that people need to be educated on the realities of these changes.
“They need to be informed that our human actions, that is, carbon emissions from our cars, factories, deforestation, mining and coral bleaching have been a major contributing factor to climate change.
“If we do not re-think our actions, we might never be able to save our environment, and leave nothing behind for our future generations.
“Therefore, we need to reduce the amount of carbon emissions we release into the atmosphere, we need to replant trees in areas that we have deforested, we need to replant mangroves to protect villagers that live close to the shore and we need to encourage the use of renewable energy.”
Ms Sauliga’s hobbies are singing, hiking, poetry, reading and writing.
