For the first time Pinto Industries Limited hosted a morning tea at their premises for the 2017 Vodafone Festival of the Friendly North contestants in Labasa yesterday.

After the tea the Pinto Industries operations manager Divendra Kumar took the contestants for a tour around their eight factories at Vakamasuasua Subdivision.

Mr Kumar said the company was proud and happy to have the contestants.

“As our social responsibility, we have been sponsoring a queen contestant and this year we have Jeshni Chand,” Mr Kumar said. “Our company is not only about providing service to our customers both local and abroad but reaching out to the Northern community at large with assistance.” He said the company sells products such as soft drinks, houseware items, plastics, roofing iron, concrete blocks, timber and brush. “We supply about 95 percent of our products to local businesses in the Central and Western division and the remainder to Labasa,” Mr Kumar said.

“We have provided employment to 140 people.”

Meanwhile, their contestant Miss Jeshni Chand, 20, of Korotari, Labasa said she was proud to be sponsored by a company that has been serving the people of the Northern Division since it was established in 1983.

“I feel honoured to tour around with the contestants to see how different products are made and packed for export within a certain time frame allocated to each department,” the first year University of the South Pacific Bachelor of Commerce student said.
