The Fiji Drua side has brought about a breath of fresh air to the rugby fraternity in Fiji. Fiji Drua is now being rated top contenders to be in the final of the National Rugby Championship and most possibly go on to win it.

This is their inaugural year and already they have captivated the hearts of the crowds they had played in front of in Australia and at home last Saturday. Even some of the opposition players, including Waratahs and New South Wales Country Eagles captain Paddy Ryan have a lot of admiration for the side.

This is especially in their defence and it has highlighted the fact that our local players were showing they probably did it better when putting their bodies on the line for their country.

The ferocity in their tackling was a sight to see last Saturday at Lawaqa Park and one could almost feel the creak of the bones with each one done. Nothing is being said negatively about our overseas players who wear the national colours when called upon.

The lucrative contract is on all players’ minds when they come and play for home country although some may deny this.

Of course there are those that have come to throw in a 100 percent performance while others will play around 90 percent.

The Drua side has now shown what 100 percent commitment is all about and this is talking about every individual player.

They have been given a chance to shine and shine they are doing.

They have coupled their defensive play with Fiji’s famous free flowing rugby and it is a sight to behold. For everyone at Lawaqa Park, it was worth every cent one paid for their ticket.
