Go Drua Go
Savenaca Vakaliwaliwa, Suva
It may be too early to predict, but watching the replay of the Fiji Airways Drua's performance in the last three rounds; I have a feeling that this team can cause a major upset in its first year of competition in the National Rugby Championship (NRC).
This week they meet the Perth Spirit, the current NRC champ and the team sharing the lead with the Fiji Drua on the point's ladder after Round 3.
If the Drua wins this home game, then they will continue to lead in the NRC points table. I believe it will inspire the team to lift their performance to another level by improving their discipline and cutting down on-field mistakes.
In the next two rounds (5 and 6) the Drua will be meeting two strong teams on their home grounds, Canberra Vikings and the Western Sydney Rams.
I am sure that the Drua players have gained a lot of confidence in their last three games and if they defeat the current champ Perth Spirit on Saturday here at home; they will be on fire when they play the Vikings and the Rams in the next two rounds.
The Drua will have a rest (bye) in Round 7, to regain their strength and composure to unleash all it has on Queensland Country and Sydney Rays in Rounds 8 and 9 here in Fiji.
Round 10 are the semifinals. Looking at Drua's current performance and standing then the upcoming draws, I believe with all my heart, our boys will be in the semifinals.
But let us take it one step at a time; we need to be in numbers this week to support the Drua as they meet the current champion, Perth Spirit at the National Stadium tomorrow.
Go Drua go!
