NEW CHALLENGE FOR ROSEMARY, LAMI BLUELIGHT

- ANASILINI RATUVA SUVA Edited by Osea Bola

Lami Blue Light captain Rosemary Seveti believes today’s final against the experience Marist Sea Hawks rugby team would be a good learning experience for her team.

The two teams will meet in the women’s 10s final in the Suva Rugby Union final at Albert Park today at 9am.

“We are a new team formed this year and most of us are playing rugby for the first time,”Seveti said.

“It’s a new sport for us but we are looking forward to the challenge.

“I just started playing rugby and I’ve high respect for Marist Sea Hawks, an experienced team and have the services of the national reps.

“Most of the girls in our team are unemployed and school dropouts and we will perform our best and make our club proud.”

The 24-year old, who is from Samoa, came into the country last year to settle down with her husband Jone Seveti who also plays rugby in Lami.

“I met my husband in New Zealand in 2012 when he came over to play for the Marist so last year we decided to settle down.

“For me coming from Samoa and participating in my first rugby final in Fiji is a huge achievement for me and I want to thank my husband for his support.

“He loves rugby and I want to follow his footsteps and I’m already enjoying it,” she added. Meanwhile, following the women’s 10s final, the Koroturaga final between Police White and Covenant Brothers kicks off at 10am while the Escott Shield final between Freshe’t Navy and Police Blue kicks off at 12pm.
