Pro-Am Golf In Lautoka Today.

The Lautoka Golf Club hosts a Pro-Am tournament today. Anita Gopal of Canada is sponsoring the tournament in memory of her late father, James Persaud of Georgetown, Guyana.

Pacific Games rep Roneel Prakash is one of the top golfers that would be leading the charge in the profession­al category while Abid Hussein of Nadi is tipped to win the amateur division.

Club chairman Raymond Singh said there would be prizes awarded for the overall winner in A,B,C grades and the amateur and profession­al divisions.

Singh said there has been a lot of interest shown from golfers throughout the western division.

“I want to thank those golfers who continuall­y support the Lautoka Golf Club and have shown an added interest in supporting junior developmen­t in Lautoka.

“There will be strong rivalry in the profession­al category with former Pacific Games reps Inoke Bolakoro, Vikrant Chandra, Apenisa Koroicure and Waisake Vati taking part.”

The amateur division will have the likes of elite national squad members Munesh Prasad, Asish Chant and Rohit Chandra.

Lautoka Golf Club comprises Surend Pillay, Gaffar Ali, Bobby Reddy, Tevita Drauniniu, Sunia Radovu and other players.

Tee off is from 12.15pm, late entries will not be accepted, fee is $20.
