Uncle further remanded for alleged rape

A 25-year-old man charged with rape has been further remanded by the Suva High Court. The matter was called before Judge Justice Riyaaz Hamza yesterday.

State counsel Taitusi Tuenuku informed the court that the defence will not be challenging the caution interview.

Mr Tuenuku has sought 14 days for the proposed agreed facts.

Defence counsel Talei Kean said that there were no admissions in the caution interview statement.

It is alleged that the accused raped his 5-year-old niece on July 16, this year at Nausori.

The case has been adjourned to October 11, for mention.
