Social media claims, anger Lions official
Labasa Football Association secretary Varun Anand has clarified that Vodafone national coach Christopher Gamel is not assisting them for the Courts Interdistrict Championship. “Gamel is currently in Labasa monitoring coaches and when he got a chance during his visit he helped out Seaqaqa, Dreketi and Labasa,” he said.
“Helping out in giving technical advice on and off the field similarly to what he has done with other teams in the West and the Southern divisions as well. I want the other media and people using social media to understand this and to stop misleading the people.” Anand has confirmed that Fiji Football Association’s development officer Iosefo Vosaboto is coaching the Babasiga Lions as they’re the defending IDC champions. “We’ve 22 registered players and training has been going on schedule. Four players from Dreketi have joined us. They are Ashneel Raju, Thomas Steiner, Sitiveni Rakai and Mohammed Zaid.”
He said they’ve also lost several key players like Akeimi Ralulu and Christopher Wasasala while Leone Damudamu and Jonetani Buksh’s application to join other teams are in dispute.”
Anand also revealed that Amani Makoe, Shaneel Naidu and Jale Dreloa have made applications to join Labasa and are still in process. When approached Gamel said he has been travelling and helping teams in Vanua Levu.
“I don’t know why people are wasting their time on social media disseminating wrong information about me.
“It is sad to see that they don’t have the courage to ask the right people to get the right information. I want to see a good IDC like Europe and Dubai where any team can win. This is because in football it is about mentality and philosophy of play.
“The players in Fiji are good but they need to develop their skills
