Children and staff from St Christopher’s and Dilkusha Homes were treated separate buffet breakfasts on their 2017 Fiji Day morning yesterday, thanks to the University of the South Pacific’s Pacific Technical and Further Education (TAFE) programme.

Pacific TAFE Hospitality Operations Facilitator, Parijata Moeava said the children were filled with excitement as the hospitality and commercial cookery students had served a variety of food.

“It filled our hearts with so much joy and love, for these beautiful children will one day lead the way to the future for us,” Ms Moeava said.

“It was an amazing experience for all of us as we remember the significance and importance of Fiji Day,” she said.

Pacific TAFE had two separate teams to facilitate the full buffet breakfasts for the staff and students of the two Nausori children’s homes.

Ms Moeava and Commercial Cookery Facilitator, Jone Ledua led a team of nine commercial cookery and hospitality students to provide breakfast at Dilkusha Home.

Pacific TAFE Business, Tourism and Hospitality Coordinator, Pasirio Kitione and Patisserie Programme Facilitator, Kostino Low accompanied five students to St Christopher’s Home.

Ms Moeava said the children at Dilkusha Home sang and performed two dances to show their appreciation for the breakfast initiative.
