Dear Kangana Ranaut And Hrithik Roshan, Why Wouldn’t You Just Sit And Talk?
In our side of the world, entertainment is pretty much synonymous with cinema. That cinema is not just limited to the films we watch is another story.
Their scandals, affairs and controversies of all kinds fill up our social media news feeds all day long and for the most part, we extract some pleasure from it. We are enamoured by our celebrities. We love the movies they make but even if we dislike a film or two, our fondness for them just doesn’t go away. We put them on a pedestal and pray for them.
Be it a socially responsible move or an act that lands them behind bars, every move by a celebrity is scrutinised deeply. And this, has nothing to do with the movies they make.
The Hrithik Roshan-Kangana Ranaut fiasco has been in the public eye for almost 2 years now. One has to be living in Vipassana to not know anything that has unfolded since the time she mentioned a certain “silly-ex” in an interview.
This comment soon turned into a legal battle and since then, it has only escalated with every passing day. It wasn’t long before there were leaked emails, accusations from family members, and detailed stories about their alleged affair. Needless to say, it became the story that the entire country was following.
Even before one could catch up on the last interview, there was another with even more details. You can probably keep up with the Kardashians but here, you certainly couldn’t.
The public tends to forget the details in the long run. All we remember are the bits and pieces and just before the fiasco between the two was heading towards the archives section, it was brought back by numerous back-to-back interviews that the actress gave during her film’s promotions. And we lapped it all up.
Now here’s the thing about scandals, we find them intriguing but at the same time we like to pretend that we’re above them all.
This voyeuristic nature of ours can be explained by the immense popularity that Bigg Boss enjoys. Someone’s misery becomes our entertainment, someone’s heartbreak becomes our night-time television and if that someone is a well-known celebrity, we feel like an insider to their secret world. As far as Hrithik and Kangana are concerned, only they know why they chose to air their dirty laundry in public. We just happen to be that public that is watching it all unfold.
We can’t deny the fact that Bollywood stars don’t function independently. They have assigned teams that take care of their appointments, wardrobes and the statements they make in public. So it would be safe to say that both these celebrities have put in enough time and effort to tell their side of the story.
Our mundane lives are nowhere close to the glamour that is enjoyed by Bollywood celebrities and let’s be honest here, who doesn’t enjoy a little bit of gossip about the rich and the famous? Undoubtedly, we all do.
But there comes a point when one feels like they’ve spent more than enough hours reading about a celebrity couple, their leaked emails, their engagement, the proofs they show for this engagement and what not.
And it is after this point that one wonders, what is exactly the end to all of this?
After spending close to two years following the issue, we have given more than enough time to understand their respective sides of the story.
If they were actually together for all those years and then broke up bitterly (as Kangana claims) or even if they never met in isolation (as Hrithik claims), does it really affect the society or even our lives? It only affects the concerned parties and we are not it.
There is no end in sight to this battle of words and legal notices but for what it’s worth we wish these two could just sort things out with each other.
