RFMF: Bring On Police

The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) rugby side have declared war on Police before their annual ANZ Ratu Sukuna Bowl Challenge clash at the ANZ Stadium, Suva on Friday. RFMF manager Petero Talemaivatuwiri said yesterday they’re going to win the Ratu Sukuna Bowl this year.

“We’ve been unsuccessful for the last two years and this year we desperately want to win this prestigious bowl, which means a lot to us,” he said.

“We’ve been camping since last week and the players are ready for the challenge.” Talemaivatuwiri said they would be fielding a young team because eight of their players are with the Fiji Airways Drua side playing in the Australian National Rugby Championship (NRC).

“They won’t be available. The two prominent players are Drua captain John Stewart and loose forward Peni Raidre.

This will not deter RFMF from going out to win this prestigious silverware and bring it back to Delainabua.

“We will duly miss the services of these key players but we’re grateful that they’ve moved on for a better future. We’re happy that we are contributing to the growth of rugby in the country by developing our players to play for the national teams.” Talemaivatuwiri said they would unveil new talented players in Friday’s Ratu Sukuna Bowl showdown.

“The onus is now on our new players to step-up and show their worth.”

Leading the charge for RFMF are Fiji Airways 7s strongman Isake Katonibau and former Flying Fijians hooker Isireli Ledua. “They are going to be our key players,” Talemaivatuwiri added.
