The Republic of the Fiji Military Forces Sukuna Bowl teams pledged their support to Pinktober with an undisclosed figure to the Fiji Cancer Society on Thursday.

The teams comprised of the RFMF Service Women, Army Wives and the Men’s Volleyball.

RFMF service women representative Captain Anaseini Kaumaitotoya said they hoped the donation would not only spread awareness but also assist patients. Captain Kaumaitotoya said the initiative was made by the RFMF League Team who had played earlier this week and had won against the Police Team.

“They advocated for Pinktober by wearing pink socks on the day and we were informed prior to their match we (RFMF service women) thought we would follow suit and support the cause as well,” she said. The RFMF service women wore Pinktober t-shirts.

“We asked the RFMF servicemen team to do the same and also approached the RFMF Wives and Mothers Club for their support and received their contributions.” She said they then met Talei Osbourne from the Fiji Cancer Society who received their donation at the National Netball Centre. Captain Kaumaitotoya said given that the theme for this year is ‘Fight Together’, they were glad to have joined the fight against deadly disease.
