Sacrifice Part Of Life for Our Disciplined Forces
The strong unity among our disciplined forces, the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF), Fiji Police Force and the Fiji Corrections Service, must be commended.
Their role is to ensure the safety, security, defence and well-being of Fiji and all Fijians.
While they have different functions, they work together to weave the strongest possible web of defence against criminality, whether homegrown or from abroad,
Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has said.
For the men and women in the disciplined forces, ‘sacrifice’ is part and parcel of life.
In fact, some of them sacrifice their lives for the security and safety of others.
When the Commander
RFMF Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto delivered his keynote address at the inaugural Corrections Day at the Naboro Corrections complex he said – “Sacrifice is a word that we have been attributing to ourselves as members of the disciplined services in the conduct of our duties.”
He reminded Prison officers that the word did not belong to or defined them exclusively.
“We do what we do because that is the job that we wanted and signed up for.
"In the military, we even swear an oath to that job and the institution that provides us the job.”
He said sacrifice defined more the life of their families. “They go without us to allow us to do the job that we chose and signed up for.”
He said the best way to repay that sacrifice was for them to do their job to the best of their ability.
To foster unity within the disciplined forces, sporting activities and other social gatherings have also been organised.
One such gathering is the annual Ratu Sukuna Bowl challenge.
Regardless of who comes out the winner, the networking and comradeship lasts a lifetime.
As Fijians we salute you all for your dedication and sacrifice. We cannot imagine a Fiji without your service and input. MAIKA BOLATIKI
