Climate change starts with youngest children in families: Menon
TFL Miss Fiji Pageant contestant Ashika Esther Menon is one of the youngest contestants representing the Nadi Town. She is 18.
She is a Year 13 student of Nadi Sangam Sadhu Kuppuswamy Memorial College.
1. What was your first reaction when you knew that you were going to be one of the Queen contestants at this year's Miss Fiji Pageant?
I was excited at this opportunity to be part of something great and big such as this.
2. What was the motivation behind entering this year's TFL Miss Fiji Pageant?
The beautiful people of Nadi that put their faith and trust in me to be able to represent them and make them proud.
3. Just briefly talk about your theme for the festival?
My theme is educating and empowering children about climate change. I believe that if we want to change the world we live in, in terms of climate change we have to start from the very youngest in our families because I know that children are the future leaders of tomorrow.
4. What are you most looking forward to this year's Festival?
The crowd and support from our different municipalities, the atmosphere and of course just to enjoy with my sash sisters.
5. Has it ever crossed your mind watching the festival that one day you'll be a part of it?
To be very honest no I did not think I would have this opportunity to make a difference not only in my life but in the lives of others.
6. Apart from your current position, what do you like doing in your past time?
I love to Dance and sing.
7. Who are your greatest inspiration by far?
My amazing yet wonderful parents that continue to guide and keep encouraging me to do my very best in life.
8. What would you like to take away from this year's Hibiscus?
I hope to gain more self-confidence, be more outspoken and be able to inspire other young ladies to join pageants that stand up for a purpose.
