Road construction
Nakasi
There is a saying that Rome was not built in a day and we could say the same for our roads infrastructure. I believe that with time and patience we will see better roads in the near future.
I take my hat off to the Fiji Roads Authority and contractors, Fulton Hogan and China Railway in enduring the rain and hot weather in order to build a more stable and vibrant road system for our future generation. Yes, we will be stuck in queues as far as the can see but we must have patience. Good things come to those who wait. Have a blessed day. Laucala Campus on Friday.
Like the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Outreach Programme held at the same venue on October 7, this forum was a very informative one.
The Climate Leaders Plenary Panel was made up of distinguished experts from international law experts, economists, climate scientists, academics, and NGO experts.
The various presentations were based on linking the world's climate regime to the world's ocean, human rights and climate justice and legal innovations for food security in highly climate vulnerable countries. It was also interesting to understand and appreciate how the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) are linked to the issues of global climate change.
Some of the feedback from this forum include the following:
Climate change is a very broad topic and covers numerous areas. It is not only about the science and economics aspects but also about human beings as the centre piece. It is about the rights and dignity of human beings.
Climate finance and capacity building is very important.
Climate law and governance can foster or frustrate, it could be a barrier or opportunity. Thus it is important to mobilise and work together to implement the Paris Agreement and more so keep up the momentum for a positive change.
Climate Ambition can be explained in terms of what can we do? What should we do? and What are we doing?
Climate change is a problem of global politics and it is significant to understand the normative changes and global politics that have taken place.
The importance of making evidence-based decisions by our leaders especially at the UNFCCC Climate Change Conference in Bonn, Germany.
The importance of regional support co-operation in the Pacific.
Let us hope for the best for the outcomes at COP23 in Bonn, Germany under Fiji's Presidency. and
