BLUES CALL ON FANS TO JOIN IDC CELEBRATION
Design Engineering Lautoka football team have called on their fans to dress in blue this Saturday and join them as they celebrate their 2017 Courts Interdistrict Championship win. Lautoka Football Association president Abdul Kadar said yesterday that this moment has been long time coming for the sugar city and the team want everyone to celebrate the victory.
Kadar said the celebrations would begin at 1pm from Shirley Park with a float procession from Naviti Street, Yasawa Street, Vitogo Parade, through to Tavewa Avenue and to Churchill Park ground two. “Here the fans have a chance to take pictures with the IDC trophy or with players and the trophy together. We are doing this for the people of Lautoka who have been supporting the team throughout.
“The celebrations will be big as other major sponsors will be joining Design Engineering and these include Punjas, Automart, Oceania Water Group, Geo Trucking, General Machinery, Singh’s Rentals, Roadworks and Civil Supplies, Ali’s refrigeration, Global Cleaning and Chovan Pharmacy.”
Kadar said those who want to join the float procession would need to contact team director Iqbal Mohammed on 9251318.
“We want as many people as possible to turn up in blue on Saturday as we also celebrate the Vodafone Premier League win too. We’re also planning a special night for the players and their families where they will be financially rewarded.”
The official pool draws for the Pacific Cup has been done. Lautoka are placed in Pool B along with Fiji Nadi, AFFA Savusavu All Stars, NZFFI Auckland All Stars and Manukau All Stars.
In Pool A they have Fiji Rewa, Fiji Labasa, USA All Stars and NZFFI All Stars.
Kadar said their players have had a rest after the hectic IDC tournament and training is to start shortly for the Pacific Cup.
“We will give it our best shot and this will be for the people of Lautoka.”
