Police are investigating a second drug find in the residence of a 36-year- old Valelevu resident who was earlier allegedly found in possession of 1.4kilograms of Methamphetamine.

The accused Kritesh Kumar appeared before Nasinu Magistrate Sufia Hamza after Police conducted a raid of his residence on Tuesday and found what appeared to be drugs.

After testing, it was confirmed to be methamphetamine.

Police Prosecutor Corporal Joseph Dickson said Police had carried out a second raid in Kumar’s residence on Wednesday and had allegedly found more drugs.

Corporal Dickson said investigations were still ongoing in the second drug raid.

First phase disclosures were filed and served by Prosecution in Court.

Kumar’s lawyer, Shelvin Singh, made an application for the accused to be released on bail however Corporal Dickson objected to bail saying the case was of public interest.

Corporal Dickson further object- ed to bail on the grounds that the drugs found were classified as hard drugs and the amount found was quite substantial. Magistrate Hamza mentioned that Kumar had another case of similar nature. Magistrate Hamza approved Cor- poral Dickson’s application and remanded the accused in custody pending further investigation. The case has been adjourned to November 15 for mention.
