Over 120 participants have been confirmed to be part of the Annual 2017 Moffat Salon Culinaire competition at the Fiji National University Namaka campus.

“We have now collected all our entries and competitors, it looks like we are going to have an exciting Salon,” said competition director Jean-Marc Ruzzene.

“Over 120 participants so far which is less than last year, but they are the ones who were enrolled in time.

“To us it means that the competitors already enrolled are really committed and engaged to compete.”

He said it was important to keep their cut off times but it was also important that competitors were not penalised.

He said they had made the deci- sion with the President of the Fiji Chef Association to extend only two year classes to ensure the challenge greater.

This year’s event will also include the 2017 Piazza Doro Fiji Barista of the Year.

“As the year reaches its second half, it is time to think about our most valuable assets in our industry, our talented chefs,” Mr Ruzzene said.

“This year we will take it back to Fiji National University Namaka Campus.”

He said invitations to chefs’ trainers, business owners and executive chefs, had been sent out.

The four day event is scheduled from November 14-17.
