Police arrest four in drug raids
Four people have been arrested after two drug raids conducted by the Fiji Police Force in the Central Division on Thursday night.
Chief Operations Officer Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Rusiate Tudrau has confirmed that the two raids were conducted after separate tip off of drug related activities.
ACP Tudravu said a raid was conducted at the home of a 33-year-old self-employed man in Nakasi of which Police seized white crystals believed to be methamphetamine including apparatus allegedly used for manufacturing the drugs.
“A 28-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman were also arrested and continued to be questioned while the substances have been sent for analysis,” ACP Tudravu said. He said the second raid was conducted at a billiard shop in Nausori where the team found a white plastic bag containing sachets of dried leaves hidden under a drain pipe.
“When officers removed the drain pipe cover they found the plastic bag containing the sachets. The leaves have also been sent for analysis,” he said.
He said Police operations in the four divisions have increased focusing on drugs during this festive season.
“We are anticipating that peddlers will be resorting to easy and quick means of earning money,” he said.
“The festive season is here, we continue to plead with the public to inform us of any suspicious activity in their neighbourhood.
“It is encouraging to receive the support from members of the public and our officers are working on all information gathered”.
If anyone has information, they are encouraged to feel free and call the Command Centres which are operating on 24/7 basis.
