In the span of one year the Club Feenix, one of New Zealand’s Fijian Bollywood themed nightclubs, has transformed its business in Fiji. Trading as the above and Beyond Investments, the club celebrated its one year anniversary on Friday. General manager, Michael Anderson Goundar said not only has the business club been a success, they have also expanded their business through the inclusion of JFK Hotel and Kiwi Fish and Chips restaurant. “We started off with the Bollywood theme club but then we preferred targeting multicultural society and more services to the ITaukei people,” he said. “We are trying to engage in more promotions for our club to get the business going with the support from the Nadi Police Station.” He added the major challenge they are currently facing is the increasing competition with the difficulty providing transport for the customers, so they have come up strategies to overcome this.

“Our major challenge is with competitors and the transportation for our customers, so we aim to provide appropriate transport to them,” he added.

“We are trying to move our business to other districts, and one other challenge we are facing now is our liquor licence because we would like to shift the time from 1am to 5am.

A lot of marketing has been underway to help bring in more people to our club through social media, posters and public relationship; we can see positive feedbacks especially through public relation.” Club Feenix Nadi is owned by New Zealand-born businessman Faheem Khan, who is also known as Disk Jockey (DJ) Fame.

“We are one of the most popular Bollywood nightclubs in Auckland. When we came to Fiji, we thought to visit some nightclubs and find out that we thought it really needed a truly Bollywood night club,” said Mr Goundar.

“We came here, no one was doing it here, so we saw an opportunity and we started looking for a place.”

The club is located at the former Gunda nightclub at Khan’s Lane, off Nadi’s Main Street.

The club has 23 staff members including secury officers, chefs, and waiters.
