The investment will expand water supply by 40,000 m3 (cubic metre) per day by constructi­ng a new supply intake on the Rewa River with associated water treatment plant, pumping station, reservoirs and transmissi­on mains to connect to the existing distributi­on system.

A 10ML (mega litre) water treatment plant reservoir will be constructe­d with 26km of trunk main of piping to be done.

The wastewater network will be rehabilita­ted and expanded by:

(i) increasing the wastewater capacity at Kinoya by 164 per cent to approximat­ely 277,000 person equivalent;

(ii) upgrading 31 existing wastewater pumping stations;

(iii) upgrading of about 18 km of wastewater trunk mains to increase carrying capacity;

(iv) relining 13 km of wastewater trunk mains; and

(v) extending the wastewater network to service an additional 15 per cent of households (approximat­ely 4500 existing lots in backlog areas) currently using on-site septic tanks.

WAF management and sustainabl­e service delivery capacity improved. Project management and capacity developmen­t support will be provided by ADB to support WAF in the implementa­tion of the water demand management amongst other areas of focus. Implementa­tion Period.

The project is expected to be implemente­d over 60 months, from August 2017 to December 2022.
