Two overseas companies have stepped in to co-sponsor the Jack’s Nadi football team to the Pacific Cup.

It has been confirmed that the companies are UBNAIR of Sydney, Australia and All in One Builders from Auckland in New Zealand. Nadi Football Association president Javed Ahmed told SUNsports on Friday night that he was delighted with the support from the two companies.

“The side for the Pacific Cup will now be known as Jack’s Nadi supported by All in One Builders and UBN,” he said.

TOP COACH HIRED

Ahmed also confirmed that they have secured the services of former Fijian midfield wizard Anand Sami to coach the side to the Pacific Cup.

Sami was a national football hero in the 1970s when he played for Labasa along with his brothers Gopal, Apal and Jagnath.

He coached the Babasiga Lions to their first Courts Interdistrict Championship win in 1992 at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori where they beat Nadroga 2-0 in the final.

Last month, the Australian-based Sami coached minnows Tavua to the IDC where they narrowly missed out of the semi-final berth. Sami said he has something different that he would bring to the table.

“I really did not expect that I would be selected for this position but I will be offering something different,” he said.

“Even though Tavua did not do well in the IDC, bringing in formation, and analysing each player will be the main priority to help build the team.

“It is good that we have the resources and preparation has been up to par.”

Last year UBNAIR was the major sponsor of Sydney Ba Masters who did a clean sweep by winning 2016 NZFFI international, All 2016 AFFA tournaments and 2016 Fiji Veteran tournament during the Pacific Cup. UBNAIR director Umendra Nair said he is positive that Nadi side would be a force to be reckoned with since they have Sami as coach. “Also there are some key players in the 2017 Pacific Cup and I urge everyone to come and support Jack’s Nadi.”

All In One Builders managing director Sulendra Raju has been supporting Nadi in all Pacific Cup tournaments over the years and was excited to come on board as a co-sponsor this year.

“We believe this creates long term business relationship built on trust and confidence,” Raju said.

The 2017 Pacific Cup will be hosted by New Zealand Fiji Football Incorporated at Bill Mckinlay Park in Auckland from November 22-26.
