Apisalome Tudreu scooped the Veiuto Primary School 2017 dux award. The 13-year-old of Druadrua, Macuata, was overwhelmed during school’s prizegiving ceremony at the school in Suva yesterday. His mother, Loata Tudreu, said he had set a very good example to his two younger siblings. “I could not be more proud of my only son who is the eldest of three. He has always made me proud with his achievements,” Mrs Tudreu said.

“The dux award has now given me an opportunity to expect more from him in the future which I know he will achieve as he is capable in all fields, she said.

“I know that my younger two daughters will learn a lot from him and look up to him as a motivation and what we can expect from our children.”

Apisalome said he was glad to make his family happy.

“I had not expected the dux award but I am glad that I won because the award means a lot to me and my family.

“This award gives me more responsibility as the eldest in the family to strive better and keep working hard in the future so I could make my parents proud,” Apisalome said.

“Nothing is more important to me than my family’s happiness and if it means I work hard day and night to keep achieving high awards, I will continue to do it.

He will join Suva Grammar School next year.
