Fijian Pearls head coach Vicki Wilson focuses on a new training phase for the new season. The national squad will be working on a new strategy as they prepare for the 2018 Coast Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast in April.

“Next week we enter a new five training phase focussing on specialist positional play and conditioning,” Wilson said. “Improving the fundamentals is vital so we can implement our game strategies.” The squad have been focussing on increasing their aerobic capacity last month. Following their disappointing finish during their Europe Tour last month, Wilson confirmed they are arranging for more friendly matches.

In Europe, the Pearls went down to England 91-34, Northern Ireland 58-46, Wales 61-40 and Scotland 52-34.

“Currently working on finalising match preparation for the Commonwealth Games and we hope to confirm details in the next fortnight,” Wilson said.
