Bible Verse Keeps Humble Asesela Rooted
There is this special Bible verse that keeps 13-year-old Asesela Limamaka rooted in all the achievements he has made.
James 4:10 reads: Humble yourself before the Lord and he will lift you up.
Originally from Tubenasolo Village in Nadi, Asesela was awarded the dux at the Mulomulo Muslim Primary School annual awards night on Thursday night.
He was also awarded the Year 8 First Prize, Best Attendance, Best Scouts Boy and Best Prefect for Year 8.
Asesela lives in Tovatova Settlement with his parents and only sister, about 30 minutes by car from the school.
Whenever his name was announced he humbly walked up the stage with his face down knowing he has made his family proud. The soft spoken young Nadi boy was emotional and speechless. “I don’t like to boast about my achievements and being humble is something that has carried me through all these years,” Asesela said.
“Ever since growing up I was always rooted in this special Bible verse; for us to humble ourselves before and he will lift us up, my advice to young people if there is anyone who is to lift us from where we are to something great it should be from God,” he said.
He said that he spent most of his time dedicating his life to studies and things that would have a positive impact in his life. Asesela on some occasions would walk to school when there was no bus service.
“Even if it rains or whatever the weather maybe I always make an effort to attend classes,” he said. “There was tough competition academically but through God’s help I was able to rise to the challen ge.”
Asesela said he hoped to work hard in school and someday work in the army.
“I may have my own dreams and goals but God might have something else for me and only He knows, so I will let everything come from him,” he said. “Firstly I just want to thank God for all his provisions, my family, teachers and friends for their endless support.”
His father, 35 year old self employed, Asivurusi Tuireva described his son as obedient and kind.
“I am just emotional right now and thank God for my son’s achievement, he deserves this because he is an obedient child and everytime we discipline him he will never utter a word back to us, we give all our blessings to our only son,” Mr Tuireva said. “This is my eldest child and I am just happy that he has become a good role model to his younger sister.”
