Live Like Prophet Muhammed Lived, A-G Urges Gathering
Those of you who know the last sermon of the Prophet before he died, he said amongst other things, ‘there is no superiority for an Arab over a non-Arab, nor for an Arab over an Arab. No superiority of white over black nor is black over white except by piety and good deeds’. Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum Attorney-General Mr Sayed-Khaiyum spoke of the virtues and mannerisms of the revered Prophet saying his ways were that of love and tolerance.
Followers of Islam have been encouraged to adopt the virtues of the Prophet Muhammed. Attorney-General Aiyaz SayedKhaiyum was speaking to a gathering of hundreds at the National Nabi Jalsa Celebration in Maururu, Ba yesterday.
“We can have this tent, we can have the flags. We have Prophet Muhammed’s birthday tomorrow (today) and Tuesday it will finish,” he said.
“But what have we learnt from it? Have we simply come for two to three hours to listen to all of us speak, or are we going to go back and ask ourselves ‘What are we going to learn from the Prophet?” Mr Sayed-Khaiyum spoke of the virtues and mannerisms of the revered Prophet saying his ways were that of love and tolerance.
“We need to learn from his behaviour. We will be answerable for our own deeds. We’ll be answerable as to how we behaved.
“You came to this function in Ba, you heard all the Alims (scholar) talk about the ways of the Prophet. Did you go back today and change your life? Have we stopped being a racist?
“Those of you who know the last sermon of the Prophet before he died, he said amongst other things, ‘there is no superiority for an Arab over a non-Arab, nor for an Arab over an Arab. No superiority of white over black nor is black over white except by piety and good deeds’.”
Mr Sayed-Khaiyum encouraged the gathering to learn all they could of the Prophet and to adopt and inculcate his ways into their lives.
