Minister, School Bring Children's Ward Christmas Surprise

- ASHNA KUMAR

Patients admitted at the CWM Hospital Children’s Ward were greeted with a pleasant surprise yesterday. International School Suva primary students and the Minister for Health and Medical Services Rosy Akbar gifted them Christmas hampers.

The hampers were collected by International School of Suva through donations by Extra Supermarket from Lautoka, Eagle Printery, Pure Fiji, the students, teachers and the school management.

Ms Akbar said: “This is not the first time I have visited the children’s ward but every time I visit and come out of the ward, I feel sad and heartbroken in seeing the young children who fight a lot to be better.

“And I see that the families also suffer seeing the pain their children go through. It makes me realise that when we have a small ache in our body, we start to complain about it.

“But we should be thankful for what we have and what we have achieved instead of complaining and pray for these children that they get well soon and go back home to celebrate Christmas with their families. “What is more important is to bring a smile on our children’s faces. I am sure as adults we all are aware of deteriorating moral values in our society.

“We really need to bring it back and the best way to do it is with our children; sacrificing this time and weekend to bring smiles on their faces,” Ms Akbar said.
