Students Flock To Collect Year 13 Results
Atunaisa Raralevu of the Fiji Latter Day Saints (LDS) Church College yelled out with joy yesterday when he received his Year 13 examination results.
Overcome with happiness Mr Raralevu, 19, said: “I just can’t believe this result. I’ve been working really hard during the year and it paid off. “I didn’t tell my mother I was coming to collect it just to protect myself in case my results did not turn out okay.”
Another student and an aspiring journalist Oliva Kalokaloivolasiga, 21, of Nasinu Secondary school said his parents’ endless support helped him through the year.
“I was shocked because my marks increased a little bit from what I scored in the previous exam,” he said.
“There were days I just didn’t feel like studying but my family kept motivating me to do well.”
Ministry of Education officials were stocked and ready when students began arriving at the examination centre in Suva after results were formally released yesterday.
All nine education offices across the country have been activated to cater for students, while an additional centre in Downtown Boulevard, Suva also remained opened. Some 7,711 students sat for the Examination this year, according to a Ministry release.
To ease the rush of students, an online portal through which results can be accessed has also been created.
Janet Tuirabe, of Assemblies of God High School, paid tribute to her teachers after opening the brown envelope to view her result. Ms Tuirabe hopes to pursue Law at the University of the South Pacific and is confident of doing well in the next chapter of her academic life. “My parents and teachers constantly reminded us of our goals and that kept me going,” she added.
Individual results are also up for collection at all respective schools.
