The Ministry of Foreign Affairs staff members led by Deputy Permanent Secretary Esala Nayasi gave Christmas gifts to the children at Dilkusha Home in Nausori yesterday. Mr Nayasi said it gave them great pleasure to share Christmas gifts to children at Dilkusha Home.

He told children and staff at the home that the ministry cared for them.

“We want to show you that we are with you not only this festive season but every day,” Mr Nayasi said. “We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.”

MOF charity committee chairperson Vueti May said their theme was `Sharing and Caring’ and they decided to visit the Dilkusha Home to gift the children and let them know that “we care for them’, she said.

The MOF staff sang a few Christmas carols for the children. Earlier in the day the Sunday school children, teachers and parents from Yako Village, Nadroga visited the home.

Their leader Petaia Naba said their plan to pay a visit to children at the home started at the beginning of the year.

“Our Sunday school children, teachers and parents hired two buses for the visit. We just want to show the children we love them and we will pray for them to have a better future,” Mr Naba said. Dilkusha Home senior matron Deaconess Leba Laveti thanked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other groups and organisations for taking time from their busy schedules to share the Spirit of Christmas and lunch with the children at the Dilkusha Home. She said this was a time of sharing and the residents of Dilkusha really appreciated the gesture. We ask the Lord to bless each and every visitor as well as their families,” Deaconess Laveti said.
