Change in mindset will help improve service delivery: Pillay
Assistant Minister for Agriculture Viam Pillay has observed that in order for improvement in terms of service delivery within the ministry to occur there must be a change in the way officers approached their work.
During the Ministry of Agriculture awards for Northern Division staff at the Hotel North Pole in Labasa yesterday, Mr Pillay said first of all there must be a change in the mindset of officers at all levels. “There must be a change in attitude of officers to the general understanding of the objectives and plans of the national government,” Mr Pillay said.
“Within the ministry, changes must be made in the way we do things so it responds to changes in the external environment that we service.
“There must be changes to our overall inefficiencies and we must become proactive in our responses such as poor housing, no office equipment and facilities and walking long distances between farms in all kinds of weather.
“I thank you most sincerely for all your efforts and dedication to duty.”
