Dentist Looks Forward to First Posting in 2018

She said there was a need for improvement in the field of dental surgery.

Kartika Kajal is looking forward to her first posting next year as a dentist. Ms Kajal, 23, was among 608 students, who graduated from the College of Medicine Nursing and Health Sciences at the Fiji National University on Tuesday. Originally from Ba she took five years to complete her studies and graduated with a Bachelor in Dental Surgery degree.

“I’m always supported by my family. The major challenge I faced was adapting to the new environment, which I found difficult,” Ms Kajal said. She said there was a need for improvement in the field of dental surgery.

“I think there is more to be done with resources. We need more resources if we want better services in terms of cosmetic dentistry. And we need to give the public better resources and better services. “I’m happy to have achieved my goal and I plan to pursue further studies,” Ms Kajal said. Dedicating her achievement to God and her family, she thanked the staff of AD Patel College in Ba who motivated her.

Ms Kajal received two awards: The Excellence Dean’s Honors for Dental Surgery and Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons Braham Pearlman award for Outstanding Achievement in Clinical Dentistry.
