Footpath increases safety for pedestrians in Cunningham
Anew footpath in Cunningham, which is disability-friendly, will increase safety for pedestrians by providing them with a defined path and reduce pedestrian accidents
The Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) announced yesterday that the Cunningham footpath project was now complete.
FRA acting general manager capital works Tarun Bhalla said the new footpath was aimed at improving pedestrian access and safety.
Mr Bhalla said the footpath was now lined up on the full length of the east side of the Cunningham Road from
Kings Road to Princes Road, plus selected sections of the new footpath on the west side, a combined total length of approximately 3500m.
“The scope of works include new footpaths, associated kerb and channel, drainage, signage, upgrade of five existing bus bays while making three new bus bays and pedestrian hand rails,” Mr Bhalla said.
He thanked the contractor Sekaia Ragata, of Rehoboth Infrastructure Limited, for its hard work and dedication in completing this important project.
“FRA also wishes to thank members of the public for their patience and for allowing our contractor the room to safely carry on with the work,” Mr Bhalla said. The new footpath is part of the FRA’s Renewals Project.
