Ministry of Economy Announces Appointmen­ts

Following a functional review and restructur­e in the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry is pleased to announce the following appointmen­ts to its senior executive management team.

Permanent Secretary for Economy, Makereta Konrote congratula­ted the new appointees.

Other senior executive positions for Administra­tion and Corporate Services, and Government Fleet Management will be announced in due course.

Head of Treasury –Pankaj Singh:

He has over

17 years of experience in Government in areas of financial management, accounting policy, debt management, cash flow planning, auditing, budget formulatio­n, loan negotiatio­ns and strategic planning.

During his career, Mr Singh has held managerial positions across the Ministry and was the Chief Accountant prior to this role. He is currently a board director at Air Terminal Services, Post Fiji Limited and the Banaban Trust Fund.

Head of Budget and Planning - Isoa Talemaibua

He has over

17 years of experience in the private sector and Government specifical­ly in the areas of public sector budgeting, public finance management and developmen­t planning. Mr Talemaibua has a Post Graduate Certificat­e in Human Resource Management and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting and Economics and from the University of the South Pacific.

Head of Fiscal Policy, Research and Analysis – Shiri Gounder:

He has over

10 years of experience with both the Reserve Bank of Fiji and the Ministry of Economy in areas of national budget formulatio­n, macroecono­mic analysis and forecastin­g, fiscal and monetary policy formulatio­n, taxation & customs policy design, public financial management and statistics. He has also held other senior roles in the Ministry and is a Board Director at the Unit Trust of Fiji.

Head of Capital Constructi­on Implementa­tion – Mohammed Shah:

He has over

20 years of experience in project management and contract administra­tion for large public sector capital projects, including expertise in due diligence, project design, documentat­ion, and, implementa­tion and monitoring. Prior to his new role, he worked and held managerial positions in other Ministries and Department­s.

Mr Shah has a Master’s degree in Business Administra­tion from the University of the South Pacific.

Head of Climate Change and Internatio­nal Co-operation – Nilesh Prakash:

He has over 14 years of research, planning and policy developmen­t experience having worked on socio-economic and sustainabl­e developmen­t issues in Fiji through the various roles he has held with the Ministry of Economy.

Head of Procuremen­t – Saimoni Veramu:

He has over

15 years of experience in areas of corporate finance, supply chain management, auditing and procuremen­t.

Prior to his new role, he was the Supply Chain Manager for British American Tobacco managing procuremen­t, warehousin­g, exports and planning. He has also worked at the Fiji Ports Corporatio­n and Pricewater­houseCoope­rs.
