Military engineers to return to work on January 3
Work on 12 projects, by the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Engineers, will resume on January 03, 2018.
RFMF engineers operations manager Major Sanaila Vatukalulu said the engineers were on leave for Christmas and New Year. “They will report back to work on January 03,” he said.
As for the engineers working on the new Rotuma Hospital they will also return to the island on January 3. At the moment 10 engineers are looking after the construction site. “From the 50 engineers involved in the construction of the Rotuma Hospital, 40 are on leave and 10 are at the site,” Major Vatukalulu said.
The ongoing projects are as follows: Construction of Rotuma Hospital; Construction of Chapel at Duke of Edinburgh Barracks, Lautoka;
Construction of a mess hall at Black Rock, Nadi;
Construction of sports ground embankment, Vunisea, Kadavu;
Construction of the extension to Operations Block, Sukanaivalu Barracks, Labasa;
Construction of playground at Sawaieke, Gau;
TC Thomas Housing Rehabilitation Programme – 28 houses in Rabi;
TC Thomas Housing Rehabilitation Programme – 30 houses in Cakaudrove;
Construction of Evacuation Centre Self funded at Kanakana Village, Cakaudrove.
Construction of 17 houses self-funded at Nativi, Ra;
Renovation works at Ratu Luke Primary School, Wainunu, Bua – 01 x 05 classroom, staffroom, industrial arts workshop, girls dormitory.
Other projects:
HQ RFMF SRAT DPSO Office Prefab; TF Bde Renovate/Upgrade Works; St Joseph the Walker – construction of a walkway;
Nasova Church;
CMF Tacirua Ground;; Nokonoko to TF Bde;
Lami Deuba Corridor.
