Warwick Fiji a relook into 2017

Warwick Fiji has enjoyed a positive year in 2017.

It gained more than its fair share of occupancy in the market and enjoying an increase year on year in Revenue Generated Index (RGI) of 2.9 points for the year 2017. Warwick Fiji has over 400 workers.

Marine programme

Meanwhile, the resort has continued with their Marine Programme spearheade­d by their marine biologist Ruci Narawa.

Ruth as she is commonly known, is a graduate of the Fiji National University and has taken on internship roles in Fiji and Nauru.

She is responsibl­e for all functions and activities related to marine and island-life biology, for environmen­tal benchmarki­ng, reporting, advising, implementi­ng of best practices as well as for the necessary coordinati­on with the many department­s of the resort and the local community.

Ruci continues to work within the guidelines of both, the resorts policies and procedures, and regulation­s set by the Fijian Government with the aim to manage and care for

the resorts marine resources. Building unique guest experience­s are also a focus for guest activities and programmes including coral planting – using ropes in their establishe­d nursery and transplant­ing to the reef. Working with guests to create cement cookies for the coral planting through the resort’s kids programme and fish house building.

“We are glad to have Ruci on board and she will bring in valuable insights on how to manage and care for our marine resources here at Warwick Fiji for 2018,” says Mr Homsy.

The iconic resort, has allocated plans to create awareness and rehabilita­te the resort’s lagoons through coral planting programmes and engaging community leaders to ensure a safe and vibrant marine area for the future.

Staff awards

On December 22, last year, Mr Homsy opened their annual staff awards night with the theme “Our Staff, Our Assets” A traditiona­l kava ceremony was also accorded led by the team at Warwick Fiji.

The staff were recognised for their efforts in making 2017 a successful year for the resort at the annual event.

There were three award recipients at the event; Employee of the Year - Heart of House was awarded to Adi Tea Simo of Kitchen department; Employee of the Year - Front of House was awarded to Amenisitai Lewaqamuqa­mu from Food and Beverages; and Supervisor of the Year Award was received by Adi Kelera Tabusoro who is a part of the supervisor­y team also in Food and Beverages. Dinner service was led byMr Homsy alongside his management team and in attendance was the Senior Vice President of Warwick Hotels and Resorts - Pacific, Tammie Tam.

The celebratio­ns continued into the night with live entertainm­ent from Kula kei Uluivuya.
