Three more people, including a woman, will appear in court today to answer charges relating to helping convicted escapee Deshwar Kishore Dutt.

Chief of Police Operations ACP Rusiate Tudravu said Dutt had been on the run for 19 days and this proved that he had a number of people helping him when he was at large.

This brings the number of people, who had assisted Dutt during his escape, to eight.

Earlier ACP Tudravu said all those who assisted Dutt would be brought to justice.

“The criminal investigation team in the Western Division will continue its investigation in this matter,” he said.

Dutt escaped from custody at the Nadi Magistrates Court on December 15 where he was taken to answer charges.

He was recaptured on January 3 in Saweni, near Lautoka after a massive police hunt.

Divisional Police Commander West Acting SSP Abdul Khan said there were few more people who were out there and had assisted Dutt during his time on the run.

Dutt appeared in a special court sitting in Nadi on Saturday and will next appear at the Lautoka High Court on the January 17, 2017.

Following Saturday’s special court sitting, Dutt was escorted back to the Naboro Correction Complex by the Western Division Taskforce Team.
