Nadi Airport reunion 2018 shaping up

The Association of Ex-Civil Aviation Staff (ACAS) committee organising the Nadi Airport Reunion this year has been meeting for several occasion now under the chairmanship of Narendra Reddy. Though organised by the ACAS the event is open to all present and former workers at the airport, such as Fiji Revenue and Customs Service, and Air Terminal Services etc. The Association president and chief executive officer of J. Kevi Group Mr Reddy said: “The objective was to bring together at Nadi Airport all present and former members working or have worked at the airport, and their families in a social atmosphere so as to rekindle friendships, reminisce about the good old days and make new friends. “This will be an important event for us since the last such meeting was held in 2011 and was extremely successful. So the planners and prospective participants are all excited about this coming event which is planned in time for the next Courts InterDistrict Championship (IDC) from October 5-7, 2018,” he said.

The events planned are:

- Opening Night Cocktail on Friday in a hall large enough to hold up to 150 persons. (There would be finger food and Palau, beer and kava of course and not forgetting a floor show)

- Next would be a Gala Night with a several course dinner and entertainment as well on a Saturday night.

The final day would be a beach picnic.

Presently the Committee is working on a budget and the final selection of venues. Design of caps, shirts, and quotes for the souvenir magazine – a decision will be made at the next meeting on these matters, he said.

He added that liaison officers from main centres have been established overseas and they are enthusiastically contacting all former residents about the event.

The former residents include Vijay Narain who is in Sydney, Australia, Ami Chand in Melbourne and Abdul Aziz in Brisbane, Emmanuel Yakub in New Zealand, HG Samut in Canada and Gyan Pillai in USA.

The meteorological staff are also in the loop, including Steve Ready in New Zealand, Ram Krishna in Australia and Ravind Kumar in Fiji.
