The country’s first ever Marriott resort opened a few months ago after more than 10 years in the making.

“Like all of the new resorts, we faced quite a few challenges during the pre-opening phase and first months of operation.

“The major challenge was to open the resort in time, to complete the recruitment process, to introduce Marriott Brand standards and procedures for the first time in Fiji,” he said. The Marriott brand brings new systems, processes and standards to Fiji that involves a lot of on-going training to exceed the expectations of its international guests.

“Supported by our strong brand name, we have seen a tremendous interest in our key source markets, and the highlight was the episode of the Australian reality TV show, The Bachelorette, that was filmed at Fiji Marriott Resort, was watched by up to 2.2m national viewers,” he said.

This year, the resort’s goal is to become the number one resort in Fiji.

Mr Dressino said the resort is planning to further enhance the guests’ experience with new food and beverage concepts as well as product upgrades.
