Students Join Davetalevu

The Davetalevu Under-19 rugby team is just not making up the numbers at the 2018 Uprising Youth 7s at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka on Wednesday.

The Rukurukule­vu, Nadroga side comprised of players from Lelean Memorial School, Ratu Kadavulevu School and Cuvu College. “There are only two boys from the village but the rest are students,” said team captain Waisale Vesikula, a student of LMS.

“We missed out registerin­g our team, the Davuilevu Knights this year but joined Davetalevu during the off season.”

Vesikula, a Naroi, Moala, Lau native made his debut at the event last year appearing for the Davuilevu Knights.

“The competitio­n was good and hope to better our performanc­e this year,” he added. The side includes RKS U18 halfback Lemeki Bolayaca who is expected to fire-up the backline. The side are in Pool C alongside the Fiji Rugby Academy, Pacific Island Air Yasawa Youth and Ravuka Sharks.

U19 Pool A: Defending champions Tuva, Lomavata Kangaroos, Ratu Filise, Togobula;

Pool B: Kings 7s Select, Skylink Natabua Beez, Fiji Rugby Academy Two, Dratabu;

Pool C: Fiji Rugby Academy, Pacific Island Air Yasawa, Ravuka Sharks and Davetalevu;

Pool D: Cuvu Blues, Nasaunival­u, RKS, First Light Taveuni;

Pool E: Hong Kong, Northern Sprit, Nailaga, Ra Barbarians; Pool F: Kris Wesley College (NZ), Cuvu Marine, Sigatoka River Safari Henibua, Malolo.
