Single mums thank FENC for assistance

- WATI TALEBULA

Two mothers were appreciative yesterday with the stationery provided by the Foundation for the Education of Needy Children in Labasa. When her husband left their family, Savitri Devi didn’t know how she would send her children to school this year because she was unemployed but with the help of FENC she was able to.

Ms Devi was emotional as she thanked FENC for their assistance.

“I applied last year and got the assistance this year,” Ms Devi said. “My husband left us and we have three children together. Life has been hard because I don’t work. “I am happy and grateful for the assistance FENC has done for my children. I will encourage my children to work hard because they don’t have any excuse not to.”

It was also the same for Geeta Wati who raised her son single-handedly. “It has been five years since FENC have been helping us because I am unfit to work,” Ms Wati said.

“I am so thankful for the assistance FENC the provided for my son. My son is able to go to school and learn. I want him to be a successful person. What I couldn’t give him he will be able to give it to his children.”

They received a brand new school bag filled with exercise books and stationery.
