Qiliho highlights change in crime trends
The crime trends in Fiji are now more opportunistic rather than well-planned. This was highlighted by the Commissioner of Police, BrigadierGeneral Sitiveni Qiliho during the signing of a lease agreement with the developers, Fineland Investment Limited at the Nabua Police Station in Suva yesterday.
He said there were many areas of concerns and the Fiji Police Force
continue to provide services in these areas.
“This is a great help for residents because I also experienced a situation when a man held his hand and tried to ask me for money in the area,” Brigadier-General Qiliho said.
Residents of Flagstaff will now have a new Police Post that will be opened at the Flagstaff Plaza shopping complex.
The new police post is the result
of determined cooperative efforts between the Fiji Police Force, the Flagstaff community and police association, the property owner The Fiji Marist Brothers Trust Board, the project developers and Yanjian Construction Company (a large construction company from China).
It began with an agreement between the Fiji Marist Brothers Trust Board (incorporated) and the Fiji Police Force in July 1966 for a corner portion of land in the Marist Brothers High School grounds for a Police Post.
The Flagstaff Police Post serves a large community of family householders and commercial activity including protection of children, given there are several large schools in the area.
