Bank South Pacific (BSP) yesterday handed over school supplies for 100 students attending primary, secondary and special schools.

This donation was to complement Fiji Education for the Needy Children (FENC) Fiji’s hallmark Child Sponsorship Programme.

BSP is a FENC Fiji partner since its inception in 2010 and continues their corporate giving programme focused on child education.

Two brothers from Tacilevu Village in Cakaudrove, Vanua Levu, were overwhelmed with their new school bags and stationery.

Etuwate and Niumaia Somumu said yesterday was the first time they received help from FENC.

“Our parents haven’t bought our school bags and we are happy that we are one of the 100 recipients today,” Etuate said.

Etuwate is a Year seven student at Dudley Intermediate School while his brother, Niumaia, attends Lodoni Primary as a Year eight student. The brothers thanked FENC and BSP for supporting them and all the needy children around the country. BSP human resources general manager Howard Politini Snr said it was a pleasure to represent BSP.

“This is why we participated with real energy and interest and some genuine hearts in our community throughout Fiji,” he said.

“Children are the best investment we can make. The needy children are our children because they are the people who will stand and sit in our role in leading this country in the future.”

He thanked FENC for their vision to provide Fijian children quality education and the opportunity for a better lifestyle.

FENC Fiji national coordinator John Tuiono also thanked BSP for their support.

“The donation will go along way in supporting the education for the needy children in Fiji,” Mr Tuiono said.
