Positive attitude

-

Do you sometimes feel that you do not fit into the crowd?

For instance, you are at the swimming pool or beach wearing a pair of swimming shorts and a vest to hide your 'belly fat' (big tummy). You are among the crowd of other boys and men in their surf shorts and shirtless - proud of their slim fit abdomens or '6 pacs.'

And inside of you that feelings erupts – “oh how I wish to have a slim flat abdomen”.

Remember nothing in this world is impossible when you focus your mind and time to achieving a set goal, in this case, losing weight, especially around the abdomen.

It is all about having a positive mental attitude. In my previous contribution to this column I had mentioned the importance of eating sensibly and exercising regularly.

This includes reducing yaqona and alcohol intake with a view to stop smoking.

In addition, we must have regular health checks on blood sugar level, blood pressure and weight.

Losing weight and transforming those belly fat into flat and slim does not happen over night because it takes considerable time and effort. Simple exercise such as taking a 30-minute walk very day will be a great start.

You must start small and then progressively increase the distance and pace over time until that moment when you begin to jog with passion.

You can make walking even more fun and motivating with a walk buddy and that way it would not be boring to walk solo.

If you cannot afford going to a gymnasium be innovative by doing sit-ups and push-ups in the comfort of home.

Another thing that you must remember is to cut down on your food intake in a gradual manner and increase the consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables.

Above all one of the greatest keys to success is being consistent at what you do because without this our goals cannot be achieved.

All in all, Anthony Robbins once said: "There is a powerful driving force inside every human being that, once unleashed, can make any vision, dream, or desire a reality."

Remember never give up, stand up tall like a lighthouse and shine to make a difference. Best wishes to everyone in their morning or afternoon walks.
