Court issues bench warrant in theft case
Abench warrant was issued against a Suva man yesterday after he failed to appear at the Suva Magistrates Court for a theft charge.
The accused, Ratu Varani Matavulo, is charged with Malakai Tawanakoro Mira after they allegedly stole $7060.70 worth of items from a house in Namadi Heights on January 8, 2016 between 4am and 5am.
Stolen items include:

Magistrate Kashyapa Wickramasekara also extended the bench warrant against Mira whose first bench warrant was issued on August 31, 2016.
Police Prosecutor Constable Walter Taito made an application for a trial in absentia and is expected to provide a sworn affidavit on the next court date from the Investigating Officer or the Crimes Officer at the Samabula Police Station. The case was adjourned to April 27 for mention. ■ ■ ■
