More than 90 students of the Vunisamaloa Sangam School in Korovuto, Ba, are grateful to the Government for the new school block which was partially opened earlier this month.

Not only did the buildings undergo repairs to the four classrooms that had their roof blown away, the school now has three new building which will house classes one to four, a library and also an Early Childhood centre.

Senior education officer Atendra Kumar said the joint initiative by Government and contractors was done exceptionally well.

“The contractors and Government have done a great job, as anticipated we are able to make use of the new school block at the start of the new school year,” he said. “Construction has been done to the highest standard and the children are now able to have good quality education.

“The community as a whole has been very appreciative to Government as well, If it wasn’t for Government these children would not have this standard of facilities.”

The date for the official opening is yet to be confirmed, but the school management is looking forward to having the prefect’s induction in the new school block today.

“The inclusion of the roll-up partition has allowed us to convert the classrooms into a school hall, so today when we have the induction it will be something special to prefects,” Mr Kumar added.
