Reasonable personality

Our attitude and perceptions towards influential factors define our character.

Under current circumstances in terms of modernisation we seem to get extreme with our thinking and behaviour. Just recently the media highlighted people diving into flooded rivers. Is this reasonable? Are the Police responsible or are the parents and caregivers?

When things go wrong then the blame game begins. The weather office becomes recipients of all the blames for any misfortune caused by natural disasters. Do we have to wait for the weather reports or should we be prepared? Isn't it our responsibility to inculcate in us and our children that we are living on the path of cyclones and on the belt of earthquakes? They should be advised about this since birth. Welcome to the path of cyclones and earthquakes. But who cares?

Reports and news these days can be accessed through many mediums but it is just a matter of being reasonable. Another extreme view is that “I am always right”. What others think and do is not reasonable at all even if they have spent their entire life in a particular field. Imagine if everyone thought the same. What would happen to creativity and originality? The very thought that “That is a better idea” can raise a person to higher level of personality which may not be matched by another. Being reasonable in our thoughts can solve many challenges such as pollution, littering, useless enmity, wrath of natural disasters, failure in exams, road accidents, health problems and many more if we are reasonable in applying our thoughts. Reading speeches of world leaders in the past centuries makes a reasonable person ponder about what kind of people we have become after making the world “better”.

Stop becoming super humans and become reasonable with your dealings. Let us be reasonable in our thoughts, attitude and dealings and see the difference of living within the limits of our capabilities.
