Biman Prasad takes on Rajendra Chaudhry
There has not been any issue about the leadership of the National Federation Party going into the 2018 General Election, says party leader Biman Prasad. Hitting out at comments made on Facebook by Rajendra Chaudhry, a lawyer and son of Fiji Labour Party leader Mahendra Chaudhry, Mr Prasad lashed out at aspersions that there were talks to replace him. In his Facebook post, Mr Chaudhry claimed that there was a meeting in the presence of Mr Prasad where discussions took place to replace Mr Prasad as leader. He claimed the position was offered to Unity Fiji leader Savenaca Narube.
Mr Chaudhry criticised NFP President Pio Tikoduadua, saying that Mr Tikoduadua had said he was sick when he left his position as Infrastructure Minister.
Mr Prasad hit out: “I do not wish to respond in detail to nonsensical statements and utter rubbish being dished out by Rajendra Chaudhry. It is gutter-level
“I am the leader of the National Federation Party, having been unanimously elected on March 29th, 2014, re-elected by the NFP parliamentary caucus after the 2014 General Election and I am leading the NFP into the 2018 General Elections. This is in strict compliance with the constitution of the NFP.
“Therefore, there wasn’t, isn’t and won’t be any issue about the leadership of the NFP going into the 2018 General Election.
He added: “NFP will not be bothered by the garbage spewed by our politically insignificant detractors.”
